Gábor Tompa:
A STAGE DIRECTOR’S OEUVREfrom Three Sisters to The Cherry Orchard Stage direction entails a complex of disparate actions and is in this respect different from the work of an artist whose focus is limited to one discrete field: writing, music, arts. The work of the stage director involves rendering the artistic act present, as well as a devotion to pedagogical aspects, or even the responsibility for a certain entity. The complete drama man finds himself at this intersection through turns in competing mission priorities, yet bound not to give up for good on any of them. Gábor Tompa joins a family of artists who do not confine themselves within the borderlines of the stage, but who are also creators of people and places.
There on stage, the personal work is commonly shared in a blend of individual and collective work. This is what the album stands for: the stage director is not alone.
