Café Müller premiered on May 20 in 1978 at the Wuppertal Opera. Since the beginning of the 1980s it´s usually performed as the first part of a double bill evening together with Le Sacre du Printemps. Pina Bausch was keeping on dancing her part in Café Müller until she passed away in 2009. The recording was done in 1985.
